It's Solely A Happy New Year !

New Year’s Reflections Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends. Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives. And when I ponder those who do,
I immediately think of you. Thanks for being one of the reasons I'll have a Happy New Year!

Solely Farewell !

 

The year 2008 sparked the eclectic imagination of wondrous designers to create dreamy soles in the form of structured shapes, colors and lux textures. Our feet were quite blessed to have  indulged in such a feminine epic of elegance.  How charming it has been to have taken a sentimental journey facilitated by visions of  an enchanting sole like the one below by Giuseppe Zanotti.  Hmmm, as William Shakepeare once said, "Sweets to the sweet: farewell !"

Solely Healing !

Whenever I think of stitches I think of  two things: the unfinished scarf I've been knitting for the past two Winters and this saying: The Stitch of a book is its words,by Author Margaret Rumer Godden who wrote one of my fav books, "Breakfast With The Nikolides" However thanks to Miu Miu I've added a third reason to think about stitches this seamingly intriguing sole below.

Solely Ingenious!

Today it rained sooo I decided to stay in and watch for the hundredth time,"Pollock" starring Ed Harris and Marcia Gay Harden a biopic of one my fav painters, abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock who simultaneously battled his inner demons and depression while creating the most beautiful drip paintings like the one above. Of course, it was the Native American Navajo sand painters who inspired Pollock and it's without a doubt it's designer, Charlotte Olympia who gives my feet the sole inspiration they yearn for, thanks to her rhythmic works of nature below for Spring'2009.

Solely A Spectacular Sight!

 Last night it stormed and to my amazement when I looked outside this morning the snow had been washed away by the pouring rain and the sun was shining oh sooo brightly, there wasn't a dreary cloud in sight. Excited me decided to go sole wandering since the sun's arms were aching to embrace me with it's warmth. Hmmm, the moment the sun's beauteuos rays were in my eyes I  knew it would light my mind with visions of sunbursts like the ones below by Givenchy to grace my cloudy days.

Solely Purrrfect!

On the the eve of Christmas I searched high and low for my Eartha Kitt CD to listen to one of my fav Christmas songs: Santa Baby. I must say I have been quite fortunate to see two of my fav singers Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughn perform, unfortunately I'm much too late for Eartha Kitt who passed away yesterday on December 25, 2008. One thing for sure Miss Kitt was definitely the cat's meow as she gracefully purred her way into our hearts. Without hesitation I can truly say:

Her loyalty did show.

We loved her and she loved us back,

until she had to go.
We will not despair for she'll be there,
when our time's at the end.
There just beyond the Pearly Gates,
awaits our friend.
 Hmmm, Paul Smith, Jimmy Choo, and Christian Louboutin certainly let the cat out of the bag when they designed these purrrfect kittenish soles below.

It's always flattering when the finishing touch is a pair of soles sooo dazzling that you become yourself's biggest admirer. Hmmm, without question, designer Giuseppe Zanotti is also a magician who creates beautiful eye-catching soles like the ones below.

Solely Romantic !

Throughout the year I like to sprinkle a hand full of beautiful fragranced rose petals atop my candle lit bubble bath, it's such a lovely indulgence. On a cold Winter's night it's the most pleasurable form of pampering one's self, I luv the scent of the rose petals perfuming the air it's sooo intoxicating thanks to the warmth of the bath. Author, James Matthew Barrie once said, " God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December." I say, Christian Louboutin has given us a sole of petals so we may immortalize its beauty as we walk this earth.

Solely Virtuous!

Holiday parties are wondrous moments to share with friends and strangers. Yet to wear a pair of angelic soles is always breathtaking for those who take notice because mere words can never explain the aura of soles sooo divine. Hmmm, maybe it's because soles sooo etheral like the ones above created by Walter Steiger silently speak to us the words in the poem below by Oren Arnold.

Solely Nostalgic!

 Today was another frigid and snowy day sooo I pulled out my books of poetry and read, read, read. One of my fav poems is "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd" by Walt Whitman. It's a poem that  bemoans Abraham Lincoln's tragic death, in it Whitman uses Lilacs as a symbol of emotion and sentiment. Lilacs are special to me because they ignite childhood memories with their enticing sweet fragrance. What's weird about some Lilacs is, they prefer the Winter chill because it prepares them for the Spring. Hmmm, it looks like Christian Louboutin, Ruthie Davis, and Sergio Rossi must have taken a trip down memory lane when they created these beautiful, aromatic Lilacs below.

Solely Without Complaints!

This morning when I looked outside snow was everywhere at least 9 inches not including the 5 inches from the other day! Sooo I decided to stay home in my flannel pj's drinking hot cocoa mixed with coffee topped off with a mound of whipped cream and complete my Christmas shopping online. There's a lovely quote by Frederick Soddy, " The pure air and dazzling snow belong to things beyond the reach of all personal feeling, almost beyond the reach of life. Yet such things are a part of our life, neither the least noble nor the most terrible." Hmmm, as I was reminded of this beautiful quote I began to feel guilty about my constant complaining of the snow but of course that subsided after I discovered these dazzling ornaments above at nordstrom.com and below by : Brian Atwood, Miu Miu and Sergio Rossi.

Solely Unchewable!

A friend called me this evening crying that her six month old poodle Gidget chewed a pair of her fav Miu Miu soles and they were beyond repair. I tried to explain to her that we humans have half a million sweat glands in our feet that are continuously secreting moisture sooo when we slip our feet into our fab soles our glands have already released about half a pint of our naturally scented perspiration, and unfortunately dogs especially puppies are attracted to it. Disgusting as it sounds little Gidget had a taste for Melanie's stinky soles. I suggest that Melanie buy Gidget her own designer soles to chew on like the ones above at hautedogboutique.com and not the ones below by: Giuseppe Zanotti, Alexander McQueen and Christian Louboutin. Hmmm,

Solely Charming!

There's nothing more luvingly and dramatic than capturing the beauty of a sole dangling from a chain to illuminate one's neckline like the one above at Lanajewelry.com by Lana Fertelmeister. My endless luv for soles doesn't stop at my feet, sometimes I like to aim higher because it gives me a nice warm feeling to know that I can wear a lovely sole close to my heart. Of course what goes up must come down like the jeweled soles below by Miu Miu and Christian Dior waiting anxiously to be stepped into ! 

Accumulation of Soles!

As I post this blog there are six inches of snow on the ground and it's still snowing! I luv the snow but not driving in it, that's a mess. What I really would like to do is stay home and order Rita Pearl's hypoallergenic BW Stripe Heel pillow at ritapearl.com .  Hmmm, just think while waiting for its arrival I could curl up and day dream of snuggling with the cozy bundle of soles below by Christian Louboutin, Sergio Rossi, and Chloe.
